The Rod Coffin Story
In November 2014, Jason Christie, a Bassmaster Elite Series Angler and close friend called me and asked me if I could build a box to carry his rods & reels in. Jason wanted a box that would allow him to keep his reels on his rods. With the help of 2 guys I work with, Antonio and Don we designed The Rod Coffin. We made the first prototype out of wood and fiberglass. Edwin Evers was the next Bassmaster Elite Series Angler who wanted a Rod Coffin. I wasn't sure we could build one much less two. We did however get two boxes made for those guys and they worked great. In January of 2016, we decided to switch from fiberglass to aluminum and made our first aluminum box for Edwin Evers. In March of 2016, I got to watch 2 of our boxes drive through the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Bassmaster Classic. What a cool experience to see something I had a hand in building on such a big stage. No one knew that it was our product we designed and built but it didn't matter, I was so proud of what we had done.
We have 8 total aluminum boxes out on the road with 3 others in production as of March 2018. This has truly been a fun adventure developing The Rod Coffin and getting know some of the best fisherman in the world and more importantly to now call them my friends. It has taken 3 years, but I truly believe in our product and I’m proud to have my name associated with something bass fisherman can use. Being an avid bass fisherman myself, I know how important it is to have a product that keeps your equipment safe and organized while preparing for a tournament. I believe our box does that 100%. We now have 4 boxes on the Bassmaster Elite trail: Jason Christie, Edwin Evers, Jarrod Lintner and Jeff Kreit. My good friend & fellow Pradco Pro Chris Jones has one of our boxes as well. We have several other boxes located in Kentucky, Missouri and Oklahoma. Jake Biram, who fishes for Oklahoma State Cowboys has an aluminum box in production. Jake had been using Edwins original wood fiberglass box it was time for an upgrade. I have always believed in the potential of this product. Antonio and I have strived to make this product with the best finishes and techniques. I believe we have achieved that goal. We now are offering 3 sizes of Rod Coffins, the 2 x 8, 3 x 8, and a 3 x 9. These boxes are made to order so we can also make any adjustment on sizes.
